Come join me as I walk around Camarillo, taking pictures.
I am Trevor Carpenter. I’ve lived in Camarillo most of my life. I’ve tried to leave, several times, but I just can’t shake it. So, here I am, trying to embrace my home town.
For quite a while I thought that there was nothing worth photographing in a simple suburban town. Nothing unique, nothing fun, nothing cultural. It is true that much of Southern California looks the same, with all the urban sprawl we see. There are places where you can capture an shot of a sea of tan colored, stucco covered track homes. Quite often, this same shot can be composed 100 miles away and look identical.
So, my challenge is to wander around my little suburban paradise and capture the unique. I’m hoping to capture what has become “life” for so many Americans.
